“Sutton is becoming increasingly well-known for its four-season activities. At the mountain top there’s SUTTON, My mountain resort!, with 53 ski runs and a network of glade runs through the trees, a huge favourite with skiers and snowboarders. The Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton, maintains 77 km of hiking paths and Sutton en haut whose reception is located at the parc aventure d’Arbre en Arbre, grooms 33 km of cross-country trails. As well, there are dozens of trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Auberge des Appalaches and Au Diable Vert , which also offers river kayaking. Then, there’s the Les Rochers Bleus, public golf course, surrounded by magnificent mountains and valleys, and several equestrian centres where riders can enjoy their favourite sport. Sutton has also earned an enviable reputation in the cycling and bicycle touring world. This is where Canadian champion Lyne Bessette rode her first bike and where Olympic champion Clara Hughes settled because of the beauty and variety of the cycling paths. Located on the North-South axis of the Route verte, Sutton is recognized as the ideal starting point for the most beautiful cycling paths in Quebec and Vermont, which is just a few kilometres to the south. There are lots of other outdoor activities as well. The town park has a heated pool with an adjoining wading pool, and offers swimming and waterfit lessons every summer. The playground includes two softball courts, one of which has lighting, and an area for roller skating, basketball and volleyball. Of course, there’s soccer, with an intermunicipal recreational program (Bromont, Cowansville, Dunham, Waterloo, Brome Lake and St-Alphonse) for 9- to 18-year olds and a recreational program for 5- to 8-year olds. In winter, the park has a skating rink for hockey players and a free-skate area.
