A pleasant risk of visiting Sutton

Sutton
Oh yes, I remember it so well. That magic moment. The first time wonder of approaching Sutton village on Route 139, cruising through the “Rochers Blues” pass, marvelling with childlike amazement at the splendid green sprawl of the Sutton mountain range with roundtop (Mont Sutton) and Mount Pinnacle dominating this awesome view.
Now certainly I had seen other country landscapes like the Laurentians north of Montreal. But this region was really different. Such pastoral, wide open views! Rivers meandering through verdant fields, villages with churches on almost every other block (Sutton has at least four), apple orchards, vineyards, maple bushes with quaint sugar shacks, lakes, golf courses and a new ski-hill for nearly every day of the week! Truly I had fallen in love with the magical, natural setting. So I looked around for a while.
It was easy to find some enticing properties. In fact the choice was abundant. Century old “loyalist style” brick and field stone homes, lovingly renovated with taste and respect for their origin. Farmhouses (maintaining original charm & appeal) nestled among giant maples and pines with animal barns and fish ponds. Ski chalets, condos and lakefront cottages beckoned everywhere. What was I supposed to do?
Well, I finally decided on a swiss chalet with a pond, fourty wooded acres and a stunning mountain view, not far from Sutton. Yet I could have chosen any place in the region, whether it was Lac Brome, Bromont, Dunham, Frelighsburg, Mansonville, Bedford or St. Armand. Everywhere you will find an unsurpassed quality of life, clean air, ample outdoor activities, great dining, organic foods and yes even arts, theatre and lots of multicultural events. So why look elsewhere? You will never find a better place to live than Brome Missisquoi in the Eastern Townships!
